Points of Excellence
National Merit Finalist
ETS is pleased to recognize its first National Merit Finalist, Michael Wassall. Michael was one of over 1.5 million juniors who took the PSAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test in 2008. On September 16th, officials of the National Merit Scholarship Corporation announced the names of 16,000 semifinalists in this year's program.
Out of 8,000 Oklahoma juniors only 190 met the requirements to be named as a semifinalist. Now, as a finalist, Michael has the opportunity to continue in the competition for some 8,200 National Merit Scholarships worth more than $36 million.

NEO Math Day Competition
Thirty-two ETS high school students participated in the Northeastern Oklahoma Math Day Competition in Miami, OK in February. Competing against nine other schools, ETS won the Overall School Award; swept the Algebra 1 division earning 1st, 2nd and 3rd place; placed 1st in Geometry 1; 3rd in Algebra II; and 2nd and 3rd in Calculus.

Oklahoma Academic Scholars
ETS is proud to announce that seniors, Jonathan Fakour-Safa and Michael Wassall, have been named 2010 Academic Scholars by the State Department of Education. The purpose of the Oklahoma Academic Scholar program is to recognize the outstanding academic achievement of graduating seniors. To qualify, seniors must accumulate over Grades 9, 10, 11 and the first semester of Grade 12, a minimum GPA of 3.7 on a 4.0 scale, or be in the top 10% of their class; complete the curricular requirements for a standard diploma; and achieve a 27 composite score on the ACT or 1220 combined reading and mathematics score on the SAT.

District History Fair
Five ETS 8th grade students advanced to the District History Fair at TCC. Katelyn Robinson placed 1st with her project on the Titanic. Katelyn will compete at the state level in April.

District Science Fair
Congratulations to Taylor DePetris - 1st Place Environmental Science and Overall Best Project, Middle School; Matthew Mulcare - 2nd Place Physical Science; LaRanda Thomas - 3rd Place Botany & Zoology. Special award to Matthew Oakes from the National Association of Corrosion Engineers. Taylor DePetris and Matthew Mulcare will advance to the State Science Fair in April.

Middle School Boys Basketball
Congratulations to the ETS Middle School Saints basketball team for winning state tournament runners-up! Way to go!
